MIRACLES  REPORTED  AT  THE  SHRINE   

1. Lakshmi, a resident of Thokottu, Ullal was suffering from migraine since five years. At times it was so severe that she could do no work for hours together. She consulted many doctors and took a lot of tablets and injections, bur to no avail. In desperation, she was tempted to take an over-dose of sleeping pills and commit suicide.

One day, while traveling by bus, once again she got severe attack of the migraine. She held her head tight and began weeping. Seeing her plight, the Hindu lady, who was sitting besides her, advised her to go to the Infant Jesus shrine, Bikarnakatte and pray to Jesus, who would surely cure her. She testified of the miracle that took place in her own life. When her husband would return totally drunk and beat her everyday, she prayed for his conversion, by attending the novena for 9 consecutive Thursdays. At the end of the novena, her husband miraculously gave up drinks and the family now lives happily.

Laxmi took her advice and attended the Kannada service for 9 consecutive Thursdays. Behold! the miracle took place in her life too. She was perfectly cured of her migraine and is now a happy soul.

2. Mr. Alex Pinto from Vamanjoor, Mangalore, was a psychologically depressed man. At times he would leave the house and wander about like a mad man. Then the family members would go in search of him and bring him back home. Due to this, his wife and children were living in constant worry, unrest and confusion. Besides, having a hard time with her husband, his wife had to see her job and the management of the house. She was a devotee of the Infant Jesus. She somehow managed to take her husband to the Novena on Thursdays. Within 2 months, the man was normal. Now since 2 years, he is totally cured and is regularly present for the Novena every Thursday.

3. A 70 year old lady, from one of the prominent families of Bendore, suddenly felt severe pain in the waist. She could neither sit, stand nor walk. She consulted an orthopaedician. He diagnosed some growth in between the waist bones and advised her to undergo surgery. Since the old lady had cholesterol and was suffering from diabetes and blood pressure, the cure would slow and difficult. She went to Manipal for a second opinion. There she got the same report and advice. Then she went to Bangalore to consult the doctors at Mallya Hospital. Here again, the report was the same.

In desperation and fear, she surrendered herself to the Infant Jesus and prayed the flying novena daily. She pleaded earnestly to Jesus, to spare her from this ordeal. Meanwhile, she took some tablets given by the doctors to relieve her pain. As days passed by, she felt that her pain was decreasing. She trusted in Jesus and prayed all the more confidently. Within 3months, she felt that her pain had vanished. She went to the doctor for an x-ray. Lo and behold! It was a miracle! The growth had totally disappeared.

4. On Jan 11, 2001, we celebrated the annual feast of the Infant Jesus. On that occasion, we had published an article in one of the leading daily Kannada newspaper “Janavahini”. The news-reporters of the paper came to the shrine to interview the devotees. They asked them a simple question, “What benefits have you derived by attending the novena and praying to the Infant Jesus at the shrine?” Their answers were as follows:

a). By praying to the Infant Jesus at the shrine, I experience peace and serenity. With this strength, I am able to work the whole week.
b). I had many problems in my family. My children had gone astray. There was always fight among my family members. But after I began praying to the Infant Jesus, all my problems were solved.
c). I was a very shy and timid person, and developed inferiority complex. Hence, I never took part in any competitions. I was afraid of exams. Though I studied well, I used to forget everything in the exam hall, due to fear.

5. One day, I came to the shrine in tears just a day before the exams and prayed to Jesus. One of the fathers prayed over me and blessed me. This gave me much courage and re-assurance, that I was able to write the exams very well. From then on, I pray daily to the infant Jesus. Now I have become very courageous and get excellent results in my exams.
